Talk Radio Show: Project Camelot Interview; Elizabeth Nelson Flight 93
Comments: I didn't have to listen long before I new Nelson's claim to have been in the military was false and that's when I stop listening to the interview. She didn't know enough about the military. A troop fresh out of basic training knows more than she did. She sounded like she was improvising as she went along. I don't thing any of her claims are true and Project Camelot got taken for a ride/in.
She didn't know why she wasn't issued a weapon, and she stated alert shifts were 24 hours. I pulled my share of alerts during my 6 years in the Air Force, and we did 12 on, 12 off. As for a weapon, everyone qualifies in basic training with an M-16 and again annually whether they carry a weapon or not as part of their job. Troops that will carry weapons as part of their duties/job/speciality are given addition training with any weapons that they will use. Base hospital normally wouldn't be issued weapons (except in hostile territory and could be over run before being evacuated). If needed, security troops will be station at the hospital. She also stated that there was a public address for all soldiers to draw weapons. When a base goes on alert, a base wide klaxon is sounded. It can be heard in every building and all drill/parade grounds. The base also starts a tree based telephone notification system and notifies local radio stations announce troops to report to their duty station or play a special song that base members are briefed on that means recall.
