From my teens until about 2 to 3 years ago, I was more or less a TV addict. In the early 80's when personal VCR became available and some what affordable, I used it to record movie and TV shows that where on while I was at work or away. In more recent times up to about a year ago I used a DVR to do the same thing.I no longer have a DVR/satellite receiver in my room. I returned the one I leased to Dish Network. I still have a TV in my room, but only watch it for the weather when I'm getting ready for work.My current addiction is audio books. This addiction cost more than the TV/Movie addiction did as I buy books from Audible.com and Graphic Audio.net that I can't get through the library. My audio book addiction grew from listening to old time radio shows (otr). I have a collection of OTR, and as the listening history on my blogs show, I mix them in with the books.A few years ago I read about reading being good for memory and recall. This was based on that having to mentally visualize the author's descriptions caused more mental activity than watching TV/movies.
