Within the first few minutes I thought the book was similar to Kim Harrison's Rachael Morgan series. Dark Swan isn't a detective or runner as Kim's character, but is a shaman that banishes evil spirits and other "other worldly" creatures. Both Kim's and Rachelle's characters have a dark history/ancestry. I enjoyed this book as much as the Rachael Morgan series. Both have made my keepers list.
