Good book. Keen, commander of the armed forces, is critically wounded. Amos saves his life, but mentally Keen is defeated and considers suicide until he has a dream/vision from jlhis dead baby brother that gets Keen back in the fight.
In the mean time, Keen's commanders continue the battle to save the republic.
