Publisher's Summary
A millennium into the future, two advances have altered the course of human history: the colonization of the galaxy and the creation of the positronic brain. Isaac Asimov's Robot novels chronicle the unlikely partnership between a New York City detective and a humanoid robot who must learn to work together.Like most people left behind on an over-populated Earth, New York City police detective Elijah Baley has little love for either the arrogant Spacers or their robotic companions. But when a prominent Spacer is murdered under mysterious circumstances, Baley is ordered to the Outer Worlds to help track down the killer. Then he learns that he has been assigned a partner: R. Daneel Olivaw. Worse, the R stands for "robot" - and his positronic partner is made in the image and likeness of the murder victim!

Detective Elijah Baley and his new parter, Robot Daneel Olivaw, must determine who killed an eminent Spacer. The delicate balance of power between the humans of Earth and the Spacers of the Outer Worlds rests on their figuring out who committed the murder. William Dufris breathes new life into this classic science fiction mystery, producing a hard and gruff Baley. This contrasts well with the soft-spoken Olivaw. While Dufris's female voice seems shrill, he commands the story well. Ultimately, he is the perfect narrator for the series, which includes three more novels, two of which he is already signed up to performOn Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Caves-Steel-Robot-Isaac-Asimov/dp/0586008357/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1271022890&sr=1-1
