excellent novella in the continuing adventures of of the Arbiter Chronicales and crew. I added this to my keepers list.
Mid shipmen are being tested for entry into the officers academy. Metcaf is being tested in position of captain when the comes under actual attack. The Arbiter's real captain is injured and orders Metcaf to remain until the Arbiter's real captian personally relieves Metcaf. Metcaf must deal with the attack.
