Long but good book. This book focused more on politics than on battles. I think the author is a conservative as he portrayed the librial party as the " big bad" party/people. The portrayal was nearly identical to the democrats in the United States and individual state governments. Harrison's liberals tore down the military deverting military spending to social projects, stopped ship construction, cashiered their best military commanders and more. They crippled their space fleet to the point it wasn't able to stop attacks when the "Peeps" renewed hostilities without the Grasons fleet.
In years past, the democrats have down size the US military to critical levels leaving us barely able to defend ourselves. I've repeatedly seen in the 56 years of my life that when a democrat is president, the military get screwed with cuts, then a republican is to president and they spend their term undoing the cuts of the democrats to make the US military strong again.

I'm a bit confused about the book. I realized that I didn't listen as close as I should have. It seemed to have three or four main plots. By not paying attention to the book, I missed how they all linked together and what was suppose to be real and what was illusion.

Same pattern as the previous books in the series. It was good, but I don't remember book 4 so this to me there was a gap between book 3 and this one. Some time ago I add the complete series to my queue so I will listen to them all in sequence in a few months.

I did discover this time when listening that two if the tracks were bad. Therefore my MP3 player skipped the rest of the track. Which each track around a hour or so long, a chuck of the book was skipped. I'll have to check my master files to see if they're bad also.
Other than that it was still a good book after the third time listening.

I enjoy this book to the point that this was the third time I've listened to it. I call this book 3, because in order of story, its the third in sequence. The book's title says its book 1 as its the first of a Halo trilogy.
